"The Market" makes the Capital of Culture 2010 to an international marketplace of pictures
The project, organized by Freelens e.V., the University of Applied Sciences and Arts „Fachhochschule Dortmund“ and the Spanish School of Arts "Escuela de arte de Oviedo" understands itself as an international photo festival, which will culminate in a large-scale photo exhibition.
The photos for this exhibition will be chosen through a competition. Young talents as well as professionally working photographers are called to submit their fitting photographic works. An external Jury will choose the best photographs. The winning pictures will receive a prize and on top of it made accessible to the public through the exhibition at the Dortmund "U". Afterwards the exhibition will also be seen in the city of Oviedo.
Our intention is to contain the theme under the title "The Market'. A theme which leaves much playing room for imagination. Individual interpretations of the theme are desired. From the Trade in the school yard, to the development of the regional working market, to the situation of the international financial markets, a great variety of interpretations are possible. Important is mostly this: the reflectance of the (Structural) Transformation of Trade.
At the same time as the exhibition in the Dortmund "U" a 'theme week' will commence with workshops, seminars, talks and other events. The goal of this week is to support the artistic exchange and establish an international, photographic network that reaches beyond the frame of the exhibition. Invited to these activities are all those who feel a special, intense connection to photography.
All other current information concerning the competition, as well as the important dates and deadlines will be published here.
